History: The Portland Sea Dogs were chosen to be an expansion team for the Double-A baseball Eastern League in 1992. In 1993, there was a contest to name the new team and Sea Dogs came out on top out of over 600 name ideas.
The Sea Dogs home opener was on April 7, 1994, and was a sellout. The Sea Dogs’ major league affiliation was with the Florida Marlins from 1994 through 2002. Starting in the 2003 season, the Sea Dogs became affiliated with the Boston Red Sox.
Location: The Sea Dogs play at Hadlock Field in Portland.
Admission: Fans have the option of purchasing individual game tickets, ticket packages or season tickets. Individual game tickets are discounted if purchased in advance and range from $11-32 for adults and $8-12 for children and seniors (62+). Children 2 years old and younger are free. Ticket packages are available in 5, 10 or 20 game packages and prices range from $60-200. Season tickets for almost 70 home games range from $400-560 for the season.
Special Events/Promotions: Special events and promotions are held throughout the year. Promotions range from bobbleheads, magnets and hat giveaways to discounted concessions. Kids Run the Bases is a very popular event that is held several times throughout the season.
Food Services: Concessions are available during the game and include hot dogs, burgers, chicken tenders, fries, popcorn, ice cream, candy and other typical ballpark food. Soft drinks, water and alcoholic beverages are also available for purchase.
Parking: Parking is available in city-operated lots at the Maine Medical Center, the Congress Street Medical Building Garage, the King Middle School and the Fitzpatrick Stadium Lot. There are also several on-street parking options.
