History:Â John D. Rockefeller Jr. purchased the land around Little Long Pond in the early twentieth century. He bought it because it was scenic, and he wanted to preserve it. It was also overlooked from his summer home, The Eyrie. In 2015, it was gifted to the Land and Garden Preserve.

While walking these trails, visitors will be able to enjoy the forest, which is approximately 120 years old and made up primarily of red spruce, white spruce, hemlock, white pine, red maple, white ash, red oak, and balsam fir. The wildlife in the forest is diverse and should be respected.
Parking:Â Parking is limited in the area. Ten spots can be found in the Harbor Brook Lot, 12 in the Upper Parking Lot, and 10 at the Main Gate.
Season/Hours of Operation:Â Little Long Pond Natural Lands is open all year from dawn to dusk. This includes carriage roads, trails, and natural land. In the winter you are free to use cross-country skies, spikes, or snowshoes.
Admission Fees: Admission is free to Little Long Pond Natural Lands but donations are always appreciated. Donations boxes are located in the upper parking lot and the main gate.
