History: Built in 1898, the inn was originally the residence of James S. Harriman. It has had a number of names over the years, including the Kooman House and Curtis House. It was also an apartment building for two decades. In the mid-1980s, the building was purchased and rebuilt as an inn.
Amenities: The inn features fireplaces, porch swings, antique decor, and communal parlors and verandas. There is a Social Hour from 5:30-6:30PM each day, which includes crackers and cheese and sherry. Guests are served gourmet coffee, fresh fruit, pastries and a full breakfast each morning. Rooms include private bathrooms with air conditioning. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the inn. Outside, guests will find landscaped grounds and, in the warm weather, blooming gardens.
Recreational Activities: There is plenty to do in Belfast, including numerous boutique shops, delightful restaurants and unique art galleries. For those who enjoy museums, the Penobscot Marine Museum, Farnsworth Art Museum & Wyeth Center, and Belfast Historical Society Museum are all a short drive away. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the nearby golf courses, kayaking opportunities, whitewater rafting, hiking at local parks and preserves and viewing lighthouses. Belfast City Park, Heritage Park, Steamboat Landing Park, and Belfast Commons are all minutes away.
