Weston's Beach Dog-Friendly Details
The large beach leaves plenty of room for everyone to explore, but it can still get crowded in the summer. That's where some dog restrictions come in.
May through September
Dogs are not allowed on the beach between the hours of 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. Leashed dogs are allowed before 10:00 am and after 5:00 pm until the park closes at 11:00 pm.
October through April
Leashed dogs are allowed any time of the day.
Owners are required to pick up pet waste immediately and carry it with them until finding a trash can. Bagging and dropping waste isn't allowed. You also shouldn't claim you're going to "come back for it later." Pet waste can harm the environment and impair water quality.
Porta potties are on-site but might not be operating in winter. You should bring your own pet waste bags and drinking water.
Is Weston's Beach Safe for Dogs?
The river is normally pretty calm here. Having a dog on a leash will limit the risks of water rescue.
You should check the water quality through the Saco River Corridor Commission to confirm the water is safe to swim in, though you should never drink or give your pet river water.
Even though the park is off a main road, there's plenty of room between the parking area, a short trail to get to the beach, and the expansive beach, so there's little risk of an escaped dog running into traffic.
Please stay on the trails that lead you to the beach, and don't wander off because it can impact the ecosystem and destroy trails.
Parking at Weston's Beach
There's a large, free parking area right at the entrance to the beach. You should have no trouble finding a spot. Just don't leave a car there overnight, or you'll be locked in.
What's Near Weston's Beach?
New Hampshire is less than a mile west, with the White Mountains of New Hampshire to explore. Check your preferred trails for dog-access rules. Many allow dogs under voice control.
