SUMMARY: The Shore Path in Bar Harbor winds along the shore of Frenchman Bay. The path is over a century old and features views of historic cottages and Bar Harbor inns. Visitors enjoy the sights of the Porcupine Islands, Egg Rock Light, Balance Rock, and the Schoodic Peninsula. While walking the path, harbor seals, seabirds, and porpoises can sometimes be seen. The path is maintained by the Bar Harbor Village Improvement Association and the town.
MORE INFORMATION: Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit is from early spring through fall. Mornings and evenings offer less foot traffic. Visit at sunrise and/or sunset for spectacular views.
Season/Hours of Operation: The path is open year-round, 24/7.
Parking: There is no designated parking lot for the path. The closest public lot is the Bar Harbor Municipal Lot on Newport Drive. Or, look for metered street parking in downtown Bar Harbor.

- The Shore Path is 0.7 miles one way from Agamont Park. Agamont Park is a great spot to view the pier and see boats come and go.
- Check out Balance Rock, a glacial erratic, for a great photo opportunity.
- Benches are available along the path for a rest.
- Leashed dogs are welcome on the path, and it’s suitable for visitors of all ages.
