SUMMARY: The Moosehead Cultural Heritage Center preserves the history of the Moosehead Lake region with a particular focus on Native American heritage and influence. Visitors can learn all about the logging industry in the Moosehead region as well as the town history. Outside, be sure to check out the granite sculptures that honor Henry David Thoreau, Chief Joseph Attean, and Joseph Polis.
MORE INFORMATION: History: The Moosehead Cultural Heritage Center is housed in a 1904 Universalist Church. The Moosehead Historical Society purchased the house in 2005. The Moosehead Cultural Heritage Center was formerly called the Center for Moosehead History.
Collections and Highlights: The collection includes Native American artifacts and photographs. There is also a collection focusing on the logging industry, including photographs, documents, and logging tools. Various other town artifacts are on display.
