SUMMARY: The Stephen King House is not open to the public, but it is visible through the spooky wrought iron grates with spiders, webs, and bats. It is a must-visit attraction for followers of the popular and prolific author.
MORE INFORMATION: History: Stephen King is a native son of Maine, and he has never forgotten that. He moved his family to the Gothic Victoria mansion on West Broadway, Bangor in 1980. It is not surprising that he features Bangor in several of his novels as the city of Derry. King and his wife no longer live in the house. The family is converting the main house into an archive to hold some of his important papers and manuscripts, The house will not be open to the public but may become a retreat for working writers.
A dead tree in the front yard of the Stephen King House was converted into a sculpture by chainsaw sculptor Josh Landry. The sculpture includes different animals that make sense if you know Stephen King's books.
Parking: Parking is available on the street right in front of the house.
