History: St. Ann’s parish was established in 1883. The congregation worshiped where the Kennbunkport Inn currently stands. In 1885, a proposal for a church to be built was drawn up. Then, in 1887, the cornerstone was set and construction completed five years later.
Over the years, there has been restoration and preservation efforts including stabilizing the walls and footings, adding bell systems and replacing stained-glass windows. In 1891, the Rectory was built. It was initially a private home but later renovated to become the parish’s rectory. In 1974, the Seaside Chapel was built.
Exhibitions, Events & Programs: Worship services are at 8 AM on Sundays at the Seaside Chapel from mid-June through Labor Day. There is also a 10 AM service at Stone Chapel. From Labor Day through late September, services are at 9:30 AM. Check the website for the most up-to-date worship dates and times.
Season/Hours of Operation: The church is open Monday through Saturday at 9:00 AM. On Sundays, the church is open after the worship services are complete. There is no set closing time as it depends on church events, weather, and attendance. To ensure the church is open for visits, contact the church to make sure there aren’t any special events or maintenance scheduled.
