History: The Sedgwick-Brooklin Historical Society was established in 1964. The SBHS’s buildings include the Merrill Home, which was the home of Sedgwick’s first minister, Reverend Daniel Merrill, and a one-room schoolhouse with a barn from 1985. The Town Meetinghouse from 1795 was also a church until 1837. Today, the Town Meetinghouse is used as a town hall.
Collections and Highlights: The main collection is the Sedgwick Historical District’s buildings. Each building is preserved to depict life in the 18th-19th century in Sedgwick and Brooklin. Unique collection highlights include two horse-drawn hearses, a stone animal pound, and a cemetery.
Exhibitions, Events & Programs: The SBHS holds regular fundraising events and fun community programs. Past events included a holiday potluck dinner, a pie auction, an axe and sawing contest, musical performances, and historical lectures and talks. Check the SBHS Facebook page for upcoming events.
