SUMMARY: Schoodic Point is part of the southern portion of the Schoodic Peninsula, located in Acadia National Park. Visitors enjoy visiting Schoodic Point for its scenic views, including great views of Mount Desert Island, various species of birds, and lobster boats. It can be quite slippery on the rocks of the point, so be sure to wear appropriate gear and beware of weather conditions.
Numerous trails veer off from Schoodic Loop Road. The trails are great for hiking and bicycling. Trails wind across the whole Schoodic Peninsula and include short half-mile trails (such as Alder, East, Schoodic Head, and Sundew), to lengthier 1-1.5 mile trails (Anvil and Lower Harbor), to a longer 3-mile trail at Buck Cove Mountain. There are also over 8 miles of bicycling trails.
Schoodic Point is home to many tide pools. The best time to look through tide pools is before low tide after the waves have left behind sea treasures and sea life.
