Rockland – Matinicus Island Ferry

• Season: Ferry operates year-round on a very limited schedule which is subject to change without notice. Please call the Rockland office the day before the scheduled trip to confirm the trip is departing as scheduled. Reservations on the Matinicus Ferry may be made up to 3 months in advance. Please Note: The ferry schedule is based on high tides. The ferry will depart Matinicus within 1 hour or less of arriving.
• Crossing Route: Rockland to Matinicus and back.
• Crossing Distance: 23 miles
• Crossing Time: 2 hours and 15 minutes
• Vehicles: Yes, ferry carries vehicles, motorcycles, trucks and bicycles. * Please read the Matinicus Island Vehicle Ordinance!
• Parking: Maine State Ferry Service operates a parking lot at Rockland. Parking spaces are limited and cannot be guaranteed.
• Rockland Terminal Hours: 
  •  Mon-Sun: 6:30 AM - 5:15 PM

There is no terminal on Matinicus. Please contact the Rockland Terminal.
