History: The Robinson Ballet, which was originally called the Ralph Robinson Concert Dance Company, was founded in 1977. It performs at locations all over the state of Maine.
Performances & Dance Styles: While this is a ballet company, the performances and the dance school do not confine themselves to ballet. The dance company offers full-length classical ballet, contemporary and modern dance performances. They also perform a storybook ballet for children. The school teaches ballet, modern dance, jazz, contemporary jazz, hip-hop, tap and more. The dance school provides two studio shows at the end of each dance year that allow all students to entertain their family and friends with a choreographed production.
Locations: Performances by the dance company and the dance school are held at a variety of locations, including The Gracie Theatre at Husson University in Bangor, The Grand Auditorium in Ellsworth, Bjorn Auditorium in Farmington, and Collins Center for the Arts in Orono.
Admission: There are no season tickets and the ticket prices are reasonable, ranging from about $5 to $20.
Season: The dance school operates from September to June. The Robinson Ballet company has three performances, one in the fall, one in the winter and a children's performance in the spring.
