SUMMARY: Reeds Mill Church is a small historic church that can seat up to 100 worshipers. The church is one room and is heated by a simple wood stove. The church maintains its historic charm with a pump organ, an outhouse bathroom, kerosene lanterns and only ten pews. This is a lovely stop if you’d like to take a step back in time and see what church services were like in the late 19th century.
MORE INFORMATION: History: Reeds Mill Church was established in 1831 by a group who met in the local schoolhouse. The 32 member church was called The Church of Christ. The church was quite strict and would take attendance and require Sunday School attendance starting in 1838. In 1892, land was donated to build a formal church. Lewis Reed, a sawmill operator, was the donor of the land.
Exhibitions, Events & Programs: Old Home Sunday pot luck picnic held in August is a popular event for the church. The church also has a Hymn Sing in September, Christmas Candlelight Services, concerts, and other community events. Check their website for upcoming event dates and times.
Season/Hours of Operation: Weekly Sunday services are held at 2 PM from July through August. Special services for holidays like Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas are held as well. Check the website for the most up-to-date service times and dates. The church can also be rented for ceremonies and special services of up to 100 people.
