Reach Beach is one of the most dog-friendly access points on Deer Isle. Tucked on the neck of land between the island and Oak Point, it's a perfect spot for owners who want their dogs to have room to run or for pets who get anxious in larger crowds.

The beach is overseen by the Island Heritage Trust. It's one of the four locations on Deer Isle where dogs can be let off the leash if they are under voice control. Of course, leashed dogs are welcome too.
You won't find any seasonal or time-of-day restrictions here either. Year-round, morning or afternoon, pets and their owners can come to explore the beautiful views of this secluded beach.
The beach does abut private property, so be respectful of the neighborhoods that allow land to be shared for all.
If you can, get there for the sunrise, but the sunsets are pretty incredible too. Water views span both the west and east.

You will be responsible for all the supplies, and don't forget extra pet waste bags. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pet and carrying that waste with you. Do not bag and drop pet waste or let it be. It can cause water quality issues and disturb the habitat.

Review the list of dog-accessible locations through the Island Heritage Trust. Shore Acres Preserve is a great spot nearby that gives a more robust experience, going through woods and wetlands before reaching the rugged shore. Dogs are allowed on leash or off leash from October 1 through April 30.
