Rangeley Inn & Tavern

History: The specific date of construction for the Rangeley Inn isn’t known but is believed to be sometime between 1877 and 1908. It started out in different sections and was later attached to create one large structure. The main building, which opened in 1909, includes the dining area and lobby. The Ellis Wing (built in 1900) and Tavern Wing (built in the 1940s) were attached to the main building in the 1920s. The Rangeley Inn was very popular during the train days when visitors would arrive from major cities such as Boston and New York.

Amenities: The inn features breakfast daily, a historic bar and lounge, and access to ATV and snowmobiling trails. Guests can borrow the inn’s kayaks for an hour to ride along Haley Pond. Rooms are equipped with WiFi, TV, heating and air conditioning, and toiletries.

Recreational Activities: The Rangeley region has something for every interest. For those who enjoy being outside, hunting, fishing, moose watching, boating, golfing, boating, hiking, and swimming are all available nearby the inn. For those who enjoy history, check out the Outdoor Heritage Museum, the Wilhelm Reich Museum, or the Maine Forestry Museum.

Saddleback Mountain, Sugarloaf, Black Mountain, and Sunday River are all within driving distance and offer amazing skiing and snowboarding opportunities. Or, check out the Rangeley Lakes Trail Center for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. There’s a public ice skating rink at the Rangeley Skating Club.

The Rangeley Inn Fireside Tavern features a pub style menu with soups, salad, sandwiches as well as appetizers and entrees. The tavern is a bit more casual than the dining room. A crackling fire, music and a big screen television add to the warm and relaxed atmosphere of the Tavern. An assortment of Maine micro brews are available on tap. Sip an espresso by the fire or a chilling frozen drink on the porch. Full service bar. Handicapped accessible.
