SUMMARY: The Pemetic Mountain Loop in Acadia National Park is a 4-mile round-trip hike with amazing views and varying terrain. Hikers will find forests with roots, lakeside trails, granite ledges, and rocky paths. Many locals prefer Pemetic Mountain over the busier and more well-known Cadillac Mountain because it offers fewer crowds with equally stunning scenery. Each season has special natural surprises, such as blueberries in the summer, wildflowers in the spring, and bright foliage in the fall. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the Pemetic Mountain Loop due to the uneven terrain, which could be dangerous for pets.
MORE INFORMATION: Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit is from May to mid-October. Peak crowds are in the summer through the fall foliage season. Early mornings and late afternoons result in fewer crowds.

Parking: There are a few parking options closest to the mountain trails. Jordan Pond House Parking Lot and Bubble Rock Parking Lot are the best options.
Pemetic Mountain Trail Highlights:
- Pemetic North Ridge Trail: Approximately 1.5 miles, featuring a steady climb and granite along the way. Dogs are allowed on this trail but must be leashed.
- Pemetic South Ridge Trail: Just under 2 miles, featuring granite along the path and ocean views. Dogs are allowed on this trail but must be leashed.
- Pemetic East Cliff Trail: Just over 1 mile of rocky steps that make for a quick climb. Dogs are allowed on this trail but must be leashed.
- Pemetic Northwest Trail: This trail is perfect for hot days as it’s quite shaded and features forest paths. Dogs are allowed on this trail but must be leashed.
- Summit: The Summit of Pemetic Mountain is 1,243 feet, which makes it one of the higher peaks in Acadia National Park. From the Summit, visitors will have views of the Bubbles, Eagle Lake, and Jordan Pond. Several mountains and islands can also be seen, so be sure to bring binoculars for a great view.
- Jordan Pond Overlook: This overlook is about halfway along the Pemetic East Cliff Trail. A great spot for photo opportunities.
