History: The Ste. Agathe Historical Society was bequeathed the Pelletier-Marquis House in 1978 by a Marquis family member. The house is thought to have been built in two parts, in 1853 and then added onto in 1871. In 1975, the owner, Andre Pelletier, was ordered to leave the property by the incoming European & North American Railway company, but it’s believed that he continued to inhabit the house with his large family.
Collections and Highlights: The house is a highlight of any visit. Visitors can see the original structure, buckwheat insulation, original wood flooring, square-headed nails, ceilings that are quite low, and the rock foundation. There are household items, military memorabilia, crafts, religious items, a piano, a spinning wheel, portraits, textiles, and other vintage items decorating the house.
