Otter Cliffs

Best Time to Visit: Late spring to early fall is the best weather to visit the cliffs. Visit in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid heavy crowds.

Season/Hours of Operation: Open year-round from dawn to dusk. An entrance fee to Acadia National Park is charged.

Parking: Parking is available along Park Loop Road in the Otter Cliff Parking Lot. Alternative parking is available at Sand Beach or Thunder Hole.

Otter Cliffs Highlights:

• The Cliffs: Rock climbing is recommended for only the most experienced climbers who are familiar with traditional climbing techniques. Many native birds nest along the cliffs, including peregrine falcons, gulls, and cormorants. It is not recommended to bring dogs near the Cliffs.
• Otter Point Loop Trail: This 1.5-mile (round trip) trail is an easy hike with great views of the cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean. Dogs are permitted on the trail as long as they are leashed.
