If you're looking for a dog-friendly destination away from the crowded trails and waters of Sebago Lake State Park, you might turn to Otisfield and Pleasant Lake.
The Otisfield town beach is called Pleasant Lake Beach. Unfortunately, it is not open to dogs and people who don't live there, pay taxes there, or are guests of someone who does live there.
It's not uncommon for the lakes and ponds of Maine to ban dogs. There's a safety issue and a potential for water quality concerns with pet waste that doesn't get picked up.
However, just 15 minutes away is the Crooked River Trail of the Loon Echo Land Trust. Dogs are welcome here on a leash or under voice control.
