MORE INFORMATION: History: The Nordica homestead was built in 1841 by Edwin Norton. Famous opera singer, Lillian Nordica, was born in the house in 1857. She spent her summers vacationing at the homestead until she passed away in 1914. The museum is now dedicated to displaying artifacts pertaining to her life. The home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.
Collections and Highlights: The museum has a scale model of a Boston concert hall, Coca-Cola items, a library, and books about Lillian Nordica. The collection also includes many photos of Nordica when she was at the opera, endorsements, artwork, and furnishings. Vintage clothing and Tiffany jewelry are also on display.
Exhibitions, Events & Programs: One of the most popular local events of the year is the Nordica Day Concert. Held in August, the concert celebrates Nordica’s life with a concert, recital, and celebration.
