SUMMARY: Million Dollar View Scenic Byway offers precisely what its name implies, a million-dollar view. Begin in Danforth with the Million Dollar View Overlook, which provides stunning views of East Grand, Brackett, and Deering Lakes. The byway travels north on Route 1 and is only 8 miles long. The Canadian Province of New Brunswick is a very short distance to the east and can be viewed from many scenic overlooks.
In Weston, the Peekaboo Mountain Lookout Tower provides views of Brackett, Longfellow, and Grand Lake and is a popular family destination. East Grand Lake has swimming and boating as well as spectacular fishing. For an extended stay, cabin rentals and camping are available as well as expert guides. The views in the winter are just as spectacular and are a great complement to a skiing or snowmobiling trip.
To extend your visit to the area, cross over into the Canadian Province of New Brunswick at Orient, ME. to take advantage of the strong American dollar.
