SUMMARY: The Maine Mineral & Gem Museum has an impressive mineral and rock collection of over 15,000 square feet and 19 exhibits. Throughout the museum, there are hundreds of rare gems, fossils, and minerals to wow visitors. The museum is family-friendly and includes indoor and outdoor exhibits to enjoy.
MORE INFORMATION: History: The Maine Mineral & Gem Museum opened in 2019. Part of the collection was originally held at the Perham Maine Mineral Store up until 2009.
Collections and Highlights: The Stifler Collection of Meteorites features the largest display of moon and Martian meteorites. The Arthur M. Hussey Memorial Rock Garden showcases 26 geological specimens from around Maine, including basalt, folded marble, gabbro, gneiss, jasper, microcline, hornfels, different types of granite, and more.
