MORE INFORMATION: History: The Maine Media Workshops & College started out as the Maine Photographic Workshops. The Maine Photographic Workshops were established in 1973 by David H. Lyman. The workshops expanded to include degree programs in film and television. At that point, the establishment became known as Rockport College.
In 1995, the college added an MFA program. The name changed once more in 2007 to the Maine Media Workshops. At that time, the workshops also became a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. The school expanded in 2013 to include a studio for book arts, letterpress printing, and writing workshops.
