Little Long Pond Off-Leash Area

Little Long Pond is part of the Mount Desert Land & Garden Preserve. The trail is 2.2 miles, circling the pond with mostly flat terrain. The Little Long Pond area used to allow dogs off leash at any time, but rules changed starting May 1, 2025. Now, dogs must be leashed from 10 AM to 4 PM, from May 1 to September 30. When visiting the swimming areas, you may unleash your dog at the water access area so they can swim, but they must be immediately leashed when leaving the swimming area. From October through April, dogs may be off-leash at any time.
