History: Jonathan Fisher was a minister of the first Congregational church in Blue Hill, Maine. He designed and built the Jonathan Fisher Homestead in 1814. Fisher was a man of many talents, including an artist, scientist, and writer. Over the years, additions and replacements of portions of the home were made. However, the main house from 1814 remains intact. The Jonathan Fisher House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Collections and Highlights: The collection includes Jonathan Fisher’s paintings, watercolors, woodblock prints, and drawings. It also includes original furnishings that Fisher himself built. Additional highlights include surveying instruments, a large camera obscura, and a home library.
Exhibitions, Events & Programs: The Jonathan Fisher House holds occasional events. Past offerings have included Autumn Celebrations, orchard tours, an antique show, and more. Check the website for upcoming events.
Tours: Visits to the Jonathan Fisher house are led by a docent. Group tours and school visits are available by request.
