This is located in what's called KI Joe-Mary preserved land. The KI stands for Katahdin Iron (Works). You will have a hard time finding High Bridge Falls on any map, but this one from KI Joe-Mary shows the High Bridge Campsite, which is right by the falls. Spot Gulf Hagas on the map and then look to the right (east).

This is a waterfall that looks a lot like you'd see at a water park with a rapids ride. The top of the waterfall is wider but then narrows down into a tight space between rock walls.

New England Waterfalls says this is a good swimming hole, about six feet deep.

There is a campsite within 100 feet of the waterfall. Please don't disturb anyone who is there. You can also opt to reserve this campsite, which would make a splendid overnight adventure.

Waterfall Safety

The road to get here can be bumpy, but there are far worse logging roads in the North Maine Woods. Bookmark the North Maine Woods website so you have the right location. It's worth reaching out before you go to see the current road conditions.

Plan for a bunch of bugs when it's warm outside, with mosquitoes, biting flies, and ticks. Wear bug spray and bring mosquito netting just in case it's bad. Keep an eye on pets, as they will get bitten by flies with a sting that can leave red welts.

Always assume rocks on waterfalls are as slippery as ice. Too many people have assumed they have great footing, only to end up on their rear end or worse. Ease into the water to test the current.

Don't drink water from streams or lakes in Maine. Bring your own supply of fresh water and pick up all pet waste immediately to keep it from leaking into the water.

Parking at Waterfall

You'll have to pay to get onto the property, but after that, parking is free. Be sure to bring cash or a check, as credit cards aren't accepted at the checkpoint.
