SUMMARY: Gilmore Peak in Acadia National Park is a great option for those seeking a quieter hike to a summit than the more well-traveled Acadia mountains, such as Cadillac Mountain. Gilmore Peak is between Parkman Mountain and Sargent Mountain. The summit features Somes Sound views and views of Bald Peak, Parkman Mountain, Sargent Mountain, and Penobscot Bay. Visitors enjoy this quiet ascent to the summit for its moderately challenging trails, beautiful wildflowers in the spring, and gorgeous foliage in the fall. The trails leading to the summit are dog-friendly.
