History: This former St. Mary's Catholic Church was considered the prettiest church in New England when it opened in 1927 to serve the French Canadian population of Lewiston. It closed in 2000, was deconsecrated, and purchased from the Diocese of Portland to create a cultural center. It is still a stunning destination to enjoy performances or celebrate family events.
Highlights: The Franco Center is home to many musical events, from concerts to symphony and dance performances. School groups are welcome for tours and for events like a magic show. Visitors to Lewiston can book a tour of the Franco Center as well as visit it as part of the Franco-American Heritage Trail in Lewiston and Auburn. Le Musée d’Héritage Rita S. Dubé at the Franco Center is open during the operating hours of the Center, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. It holds a collection of items that relate to the Franco-American experience in Lewiston.
Admission: Ticket prices are dependent on what the show or event is. Many events are in the $15 to $20 per ticket price range. There is no season pass.
Season/Days/Hours of Operation: The Franco Center is open year-round and you can book it 7 days a week for any event you plan. The performance schedule is also very flexible.
