Fort Halifax Park & State Historic Site

Located at the convergence of the Sebasticook and Kennebec Rivers in Winslow, Maine, Fort Halifax (circa 1754) is a National Historic Landmark and the oldest blockhouse in the United States. Built by English settlers to protect colonial settlements along the river, the fort served as a garrison for troops from 1754 to 1766. French and Indian War re-enactments (Fort Halifax Days) are scheduled during the season.
