SUMMARY: Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) is a 72-acre campus located in Bangor. The higher education institution offers Associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. There are over 30 programs of study to choose from, including Construction, Business, Computer Technology, Culinary Arts, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Education, Electrical, Emergency Medical Services, Human Service, Fire Science, Woodworking, Medical, Plumbing, Nursing, HVAC, Welding and more. Students can choose a one or two-year program or even short-term options. Credits can be transferred to a four-year college if a student decides to pursue a bachelor's degree.
MORE INFORMATION: The campus has two residence halls which have doubles, triples, and quad occupancy. There is also a gym and fitness center, bookstore, dining hall, health services, counseling services, a disc golf course, and many clubs and activities. Examples of clubs and activities are Gaming, Handicrafting, Intramural Sports, Strings and Sing, Nurses Association, and Student Veterans of America.
The campus also has a Child Care Center for students, faculty, and staff. The Child Care Center is for ages 6 weeks to 5 years and is open Monday through Friday.
History: Eastern Maine Community College started in 1966 as the Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. The name was changed in 2003 to its current title to reflect the additional program offerings.
Visiting the Campus: Student-led walking tours are available for small groups of under ten people. Tours are scheduled online in advance. Group tours for larger groups are also available. If there is a specific academic department or office that visitors would like to see, that can also be scheduled. The school also holds Open Houses, Admitted Students days and College Information Nights.
