SUMMARY: Located off the Maine coast near Harpswell, Eagle Island State Historic Site showcases the summer home of North Pole Explorer Admiral Robert Peary and his wife Josephine. The site offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, Casco Bay and the surrounding islands. A highlight on the island are the native and Victorian era gardens originally cultivated by Josephine and now tended by Bureau of Parks and Lands staff.
