Cold Stream Falls is a dog-friendly waterfall in what is now the land trust of Cold Stream Forest between The Forks and Jackman. While preserved for its abundant fish supply and to protect wildlife, Cold Stream Falls is a definite highlight of the land at the southern tip of the property.

This waterfall is an easy hike, though you might come across some muddy and swampy areas once the trail splits off from Mountain Brook Road. It's a secluded area and a good distance from the popular fishing holes that are at the central part of the forest.
The waterfall comes down from a narrow part of the gorge, with a good swimming spot at the bottom. It's steep enough that you can't climb the falls, but it's quite stunning when the water is roaring.
Dogs should be on a leash or under voice control at all times.

Waterfall Safety
The roads that lead to the trailhead aren't paved, but they also aren't as torn up as some logging roads would be. You should still take it slow on the road.
The trail to the falls could have some exposed tree trunks or fallen trees, but you shouldn't need to bushwhack.
Prepare for abundant bugs in the warmer months, with ticks, biting flies, and mosquitoes along the trail. Bug spray will only go so far. Wear clothing you can tuck into other articles of clothing to keep the bugs from getting to your skin. Pets should be checked for ticks at the end of the adventure.
Don't drink the water in the stream. Pick up all pet waste and trash. Carry with you on the way out as Leave No Trace principles apply here.
Bring water shoes with a good grip, as the rocks will be slippery.

Parking at Waterfall
From the intersection of Capital Road and Mountain Brook Road, drive 1.2 miles until you reach a parking area on the left side of the road. Parking is free, and this is the start of the trailhead.
