There are many programs of study to choose from including Accounting, Automotive, Construction, Business, Computer Technology, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education, Exercise Science, Forensics, Human Services, Justice Studies, Medical Coding, Metal Fabrication, Plumbing, Psychology, Restaurant Management, Nursing and much more.
Students have the option to live on campus or commute. There are four residence halls for full-time students. Students can also participate in athletics, including baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, ice hockey, and women’s volleyball. There are clubs and organizations for any interest available too. Campus amenities include a fitness center, library, dining hall, bookstore, counseling center, and health center.
History: In 1964, Androscoggin State Vocational Institute opened, which would later become what is today’s Central Maine Community College. Androscoggin State was renamed Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1965. Originally, the school offered four programs in auto mechanics, industrial electricity, architectural drafting, and building construction. The first class to graduate had six graduates in 1965. The name was changed again in 1989 to Central Maine Technical College and then changed in 2003 to Central Maine Community College.
Visiting the Campus: Prospective students can schedule a tour on the Central Maine Community College website. Tours are about one hour and provide a full tour of the campus. Group tours are also available by contacting the Admissions Office.
