History: The Cary Library was established in 1905. Resident donations and major benefactors funded the private library. The library had an addition built in 1968 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in the 1980s.
Collections and Highlights: The library holds a collection of over 55,000 volumes of fiction and nonfiction, including over 800 large print books. There are 1,400 CDs, 1,700 DVDs, and 90 periodicals. Special collections include a genealogy research room filled with microfilm and documents, a Maine history section, Maine river and watershed information, and American Art reproductions.
Exhibitions, Events & Programs: The Cary Library has story and craft times for young patrons, take-home learning kits, a Lego club, and a fun Summer Reading Program for children and teens. Check the website for upcoming events. The library also has a private Telehealth Room that patrons can book for their telehealth appointments. The room has a laptop, headphones, a camera, and everything else that patrons need to consult with their healthcare provider.
