SUMMARY: Spiritualism is alive and well in the woods of Maine at Camp Etna. You can take part in meetings, programs, workshops, and classes during July and August. You are welcome to come and enjoy the 27 acres and visit the numerous healing grounds.
MORE INFORMATION: History Daniel Buswell, Jr, an avid spiritualist, built a house on a hill in Etna, ME in 1858.. He held meetings in Buswell's Grove. In the fall of 1876, he hired a tent and had the first fall spiritual meeting. A pavilion was built that could hold 1,000 people in 1880. 300 acres were transferred to First Maine Spiritualist State Camp Meeting Association in 1890. In 1919, the name was changed to Etna Spiritualist Association. Today, it is still an active center for spiritualism and holds camps in July and August. Services are held at the church on the property year round.
Season The main season is July and August, but other activities are offered in June and September.
Activities Every year at Camp Etna it is different. Speakers, classes, workshops and programs are individually priced, and you should be prepaid through the website to guarantee your spot. Private readings can also be scheduled. Some housing is available onsite but plenty of hotels and camping are located nearby.
