SUMMARY: Save the first Saturday in June to help celebrate the Black Fly Festival in Milo, ME. Why the black fly you may ask? Every town needs to have a reason for a festival and black flies are very common in Maine. It is as good a reason for a party as any other and has become a Milo tradition.
MORE INFORMATION: The Black Fly Festival is not exactly the same every year, it depends on how the first Saturday in July falls compared to the 4th of July. It always has a parade that starts at 10 am, and heads for downtown Milo. About 50 arts, crafts, and food vendors are located at Veterans Memorial Park. Live music is offered at the Gazebo in Veterans Memorial Park. Kid's activities take place near the lower Main Street parking area from 10 am to 3 pm. The chicken BBQ is a favorite with residents and visitors. Live music and fireworks over the Sebec River wrap up the festivities. In place of fireworks, lanterns may be released on the river.
