SUMMARY: The Asticou Inn is a historic inn that consists of the Main Inn building, the original Cranberry Lodge building, Topsider Cottages, Bird Bank Cottage, and Blue Spruce Cottage. Each building or cottage has its own vibe and amenities. Located close to fabulous gardens, Acadia National Park, Northeast Harbor, museums, and art galleries, there’s plenty to do when visiting the Asticou Inn.
MORE INFORMATION: History: The Asticou Inn was so named for the head chief of the Native American sakom who greeted the French settling near Somes Sound. The Savage Family built a cottage in 1854 overlooking the harbor and called it Cranberry Lodge. In 1870, boarders were welcomed to the lodge for the first time. The main building of Asticou Inn was built in 1884 but later burnt down in 1900. It was rebuilt in 1901. During World War II, the inn closed and reopened after the war ended. The Savage family continued to run the inn for generations until it was purchased in the 1960s by Asti-Kim Corporation.
